AI in Marketing: Is the Robot Coming for Your Job or Just Your Monday Admin Tasks?

Let’s address the caffeinated elephant in the room:

AI is everywhere. It’s writing emails, designing logos, making Tik Toks, and possibly judging you for how long you stared at that blank Canva file this morning.

We’ve been asked lately: “Should I be using AI?” “Is AI going to replace marketers??” (Also: “Can AI make me go viral?” Short answer: No. But we love your optimism.)

So here’s our very honest, slightly spicy take on AI in the marketing world—what it’s good for, what it isn’t, and why your job is probably safe. Mostly.

First of all, AI is not the enemy

Let’s be clear. We love a good tool. We use AI. We talk to it. Sometimes we sass it when it suggests a slogan like “Make Marketing Great Again.”

(We’re still recovering from that.)

AI is incredible at:

  • Summarizing long reports so you don’t have to cry into a spreadsheet

  • Generating 50 headlines you’ll never use but that make you feel productive

  • Creating content ideas when your brain is mush and your coffee betrayed you

  • Handling customer service FAQs at 2am so you don’t have to

In short: AI is the assistant you wish you could afford!

But here’s where it falls flat:

AI can’t feel. It doesn’t know your brand’s backstory. It doesn’t care that your business was born from a divorce, a pandemic, and a love of sourdough.

AI doesn’t understand the emotional nuance of your target market. It can’t decide when to be cheeky vs. heartfelt. It will never really get the tone of Kingston (or the Tragically Hip).

Basically, AI writes copy. But it doesn’t write connection.

And in a world where every second post is an ad and every ad sounds like it was written by someone who’s never been tired or heartbroken or broke—connection is what actually sells.

So… will AI replace marketers? 😳

AI will replace bad marketers. The ones who copy/paste, chase trends, and hope the algorithm saves them.

But the good ones? The real ones? The ones who know how to build a brand people actually feel something about?

Nah.

 They’re safe.

Our take at Blend Co?

Use AI like seasoning.

Too little and it’s bland.Too much and suddenly your content tastes like robot.

We use AI to:

  • Spark ideas when the brainstorm is dry

  • Speed up the boring stuff so we can focus on the brilliant stuff

  • Test what works before wasting time on what doesn’t

  • Enhance our creativity—not replace it

We don’t use it to automate authenticity.

Because when it comes to building brands that people remember?

Real still wins. Every time.

So what does this mean for you?

If you’re a business owner feeling pressure to “use AI or fall behind,” relax. You don’t need to pretend you’re building a chatbot army.

What you do need is a strategy that blends human brilliance with smart tools. (See what we did there?) That’s where we come in.

Want help creating marketing that’s tech-savvy and emotionally intelligent?

We’ve got you—and yes, sometimes we tag in the robots. But we always bring the heart.
